Who do Your IT Guys Trust To Backup Files?

In the days of cloud computing is becoming more and more important for businesses to find a reliable, efficient and stable manner to upload all of their company’s files to a cloud computer. Who do you turn to? Who has the resources and the strength to support your company in that regard? Do you build it yourself or do you hire a consultant?

In my experience one of the most powerful ways to source cloud computing is to ask somebody who’s already doing it. Go to somebody who has what you want and has success at it and you’ll usually figure out very quickly what it is you’re supposed to do.

Here are three things to keep in mind and sourcing someone to do backup files;

  1. the most important element of backing up files is speak. You want to make sure that the connection between your computers and the cloud computers is very quick and efficient. Make sure that bandwidth is as big as it can possibly get. With the advent of video and highly intensive files you want to make sure that the more information you have that the pipe line between you and your cloud computer is as broad as it can possibly get. Look for a company that can support at least 40 MB per second.
  2. Cost? I always tell people to look for the value over the cost for example; what would it mean to you to lose all of your company files? What would it mean if one day you logon online and the book that you were writing which was 80,000 words disappeared? I can tell you from my own personal experience that when somebody broke into my house 6 1/2 years ago while I was away at my parents for Helene and I came back in the empty the entire house including my computers and my backup hard drives I had to start rethinking the entire process. I can tell you how that felt and it was not good so here’s my recommendation; by based on value not cost.
  3. And finally the third thing that you should be looking for is a company with a significant reputation make sure they’ve been around for a while. Obviously with Internet companies they come and go these days my suggestion is you look for a company that’s been in it for a long time and will be in it for the long haul. I will make some recommendations specifically in the next article when I get the time to do a little bit of research on the company’s that I feel are the most important answers to your backup files.
