#9 – The Ultimate Marketer of the Year Competition

In previous years the finalists for this prestigious competition each had half an hour to present on the main stage, but I’ve heard through the grapevine that this year the format is changing. I do know that the winners will be announced on Friday afternoon but I don’t know if they get to speak and present. That’s actually too bad. I found their presentations to be gripping, enlightening, inspiring and the soul of the entire conference. I will check out the format this year to see how they’ve transformed it. In any case, at least be there for the presentation to the winner, which is just before the final keynote by Gary Vanderchuck.

#8 – Put This Day-One Activity on Your Radar

If you are really seeking to leverage Infusionsoft in your business then here’s a day-1 evening recommendation. Check out Marcus Murphy’s workshop to hear from the movers and shakers who are on the panel. Who is this presentation for? It’s definitely for marketing agencies, service providers and digital marketers looking to increase their revenues. If you’re an existing Infusionsoft user looking to go professional and get certified then this is the room for you. It doesn’t matter where you’re at with Infusionsoft or where you’re from in the world, this is a true opportunity for you to become a re-seller of Infusionsoft and earn significant revenue. You will learn how you can qualify and what it takes to make it happen.

#7 – Top Seminars and Training Pics for ICON16

Wednesday March 2

Choice #1: Any time that I go to a digital marketing conference like ICON, I always try to catch a seminar or two on lead generation. The Tyler Garns workshop that is scheduled on Wednesday afternoon is called “How to Generate 25,000 Leads a Month Using Infusionsoft.” I’m really a lead generation guy and this one truly piqued my curiosity this year. Anyone who has this type of screaming return as their promised benefit, I’ve got to check out. See you there.

Choice #2: If you are already an Infusionsoft certified partner it’s probably a really good idea to go see Cory Snyder’s and Dobbin Buck’s workshop entitled, “How to Develop Long-Term Partnerships with Influencers.” I’m curious to hear what they have to say because our company has actually built our own super cell of Infusionsoft certified consultants here in Canada. Both Cory and Dobbin are veterans of the Infusionsoft family, so it’s safe to say that there is a ton of high-value to grab here.

Choice #1: If you are the CEO of your company and you have revenues approaching $1 million and you’re looking to get to 10 million then I highly recommend you go check out Cindy Eager’s Elite Forum Training. This is easily in the top 10 things you must do to move your business from 7 figures to 8. Our own executive team attended Elite Forum last year and it had a significant impact on our restructuring and growth. Even though the presentation at ICON is likely a preview event, most everything that goes through the Elite Forum camp has something of high value that you can pivot on. These rooms also attract businesses who make over $1 million a year so it’s a good group to network with. We also recommend Elite Forum to our own top-tier clients.

Choice #2: If you are truly looking to become a rising star in the Infusionsoft implementation world then you must go see Brad Martineau. His presentation is entitled, “The Ultimate Client Journey: How Sixth Division Leveraged Automation to Systematically Deliver Amazing Experiences to Build a $3 Million Service and Coaching Business in Less Than Four Years.” I will warn you however that Brad tends to run through his presentations at a really fast pace. When he lays down those golden nuggets you’ll have to be sharp to pick them up. He’s not afraid of giving high-value, but if you are just staring at the PowerPoint and trying to ponder what he just said, you’ve already missed the next point. Get your cell phone ready and take pictures of the slides. If you ask him he might share his deck with you.

#6 – Visit the Expo Hall

The Expo Hall always provides a ton of value, but if you’re looking to go there and act like an adult at Holloween and go trick-or-treating looking for free stuff then you’re going to miss the point. Sure there are free T-shirts, pens, stress balls popcorn and a whole bunch of other stuff but if you’re only there for that, then this is a missed opportunity. However, if you’re looking to make connections, learn, grow and explore new opportunities then you are in the right room.

Here are my TOP-3 recommendations for the Expo Hall:

  1. One of the best booths to visit is actually the Infusionsoft booth. Why? because you can bring your greatest challenge or most complex Infusionsoft campaign to the Infusionsoft team and they work with you to make it better. They already have pods set up to bring their magical talents to you and it’s a high-value take away. Bring your laptop, show your campaign and get some straight feedback.
  2. If you are an Infusionsoft Certified Partner (ICP) or an Infusionsoft Certified Consultant (ICC) or you are in Infusionsoft User looking for high level Infusionsoft professionals to help you with your business then you must visit “The Campaign Exchange” booth. Why? Because an insider told me that this is your opportunity to grab a once-in-a-lifetime offer which will only be available at a trade show. The Campaign Exchange is a brand-new online portal that matches high-level Infusionsoft professionals with businesses who need their help. Talk to them and see how they can help you.
  3. The third booth to visit is not actually a booth at all, it’s the entire Expo Hall. The tradeshow area features a ton of sexy marketing add-ons for Infusionsoft. In addition to getting some great Infusionsoft implementation service ideas you’ll also find some great tradeshow deals on other integrated marketing functions. For example if you’re thinking about integrating texting, print, membership sites, webinars etc. it’ll all be there. I recommend that you use the “Stop and Talk” method. Take the time to learn what business intelligence each booth offers so you know where to focus your marketing efforts. Then go back to your hotel, do research on each of the companies and checkout their online reputations. Make sure you know what you sign before you jump into a service contract. Take your time, shop lots, talk lots and learn lots. Only then should you take action.

#5 – The Biggest and Best Party Alerts

Every year it seems that we miss that one special party because we didn’t read our e-mails. If you’re like me and you get hundreds of e-mails a day you may miss a few important ones from Infusionsoft. It’s a pretty good bet that you’re going to miss out on “who is hosting what,” so make sure you plan ahead. The parties at ICON tend to be the most outstanding networking opportunities so I would highly recommend check out at least one of them.

#4 – Earl Morning Coffee Then Lunch

This is something that we did not realize at our first conference four years ago, so it’s always a nice surprise for conference attendees. You will find free coffee and buffet lunch in the Expo Hall for all conference ticket holders. So get up early, go have some coffee and network.  Lunch is typically well attended or rather… “packed out the door” but it is well organized. Leave your workshop 5 min. early and go grab your lunch seat before the crowd gets there.

#3 – VIP Rooms – The Right Credentials Gets You in the Right Rooms

A ton of great networking happens in the VIP rooms. For example: If you are an Infusionsoft Certified Partner, then insist on getting an ICP ribbon or badge. One year one of our own ICP’s had the wrong credentials. In any case your ICP badge will give you access to the ICP room which has food, drinks and professional massages. There is also a goodie bag waiting for you. Last year it was a free T-shirt. We didn’t actually know this for the first couple of years so I will not take it for granted that you know.  There are also VIP rooms for speakers, media and Elite Forum members. Whatever credentials you have don’t miss the VIP rooms. I find that they are a great pit stop for refueling, recharging your phone, getting some work done and even business networking. There are also TVs in the rooms that show the real time mainstage speaker. And if you feel you’re missing anything, then all you need to do is buy the official recording of the entire conference.

#2 – It Is ICON’s 10th Anniversary and They Are Hosting a Big Party

There will be a huge 10th anniversary party on March 1. Registration is on site when you check in so book your travel accordingly. And if you missed it, there are other parties at ICON, scroll up to #5.

#1 – Check out the Mainstage Speakers

There are always huge audiences for the main stage speakers, in the neighborhood of 3,000 to 4,000 people. It’s where you’ll find the most energy and the most interesting (and famous) speakers. It’s likely your first stop when you show up to the conference and it’s quite the spectacle. I remember very clearly walking into my first conference 4 years ago. They were on a break and I was immediately overwhelmed with the number of people and the huge opulent over-the-top set design. One thing’s for sure Infusionsoft has the budget to put on a great show. The first presentation I caught was the ultimate marketer of the year competition. And the first speaker I saw was a dentist who grew his business from $800,000 to over 3 million in a year. Needless to say I was impressed and immediately started drinking the Infusionsoft Kool-Aid. And in the last 4 years I’ve been drinking it more and more.
